 This quote resonates deeply with me because it honors the universal suffering and emotional challenges we face as human beings. It reframes pain—not as a failure or weakness—but as a transformative experience that can cultivate personal depth, inner wisdom, and beauty. It acknowledges the emotional weight of profound loss and adversity while validating the human capacity to grow through it.

 It also serves as a reminder that post-traumatic growth is not only possible but often a natural part of the healing process. While I wish trauma and suffering never had to exist—and that no one had to endure such pain—for many, these experiences are part of their reality. This quote reminds me that even in the darkest moments, hope remains.

Who Evylin Chudyk is as a Psychologist:

Evylin is a Registered Psychologist with over 17 years of experience in the mental health field. Her background includes serving as a Crisis Line Support volunteer, a psychiatric aide at a hospital for individuals struggling with mental illness, and a youth support worker for at-risk youth and young women affected by sex trafficking and addiction.

Evylin has been practicing as a Registered Psychologist for the past 12 years. During this time, she has worked with both a non-profit agency and the provincial public health authority in diverse settings, including a rural community mental health clinic, an acute care psychiatric hospital, and currently, the Adult Bariatric Specialty Clinic.

Evylin’s therapeutic approach is client-centered and grounded in feminist principles. Evylin draws on a range of psychological modalities and theories, including Client-Centered Therapy, Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT), Cognitive Processing Therapy (CPT), Acceptance and Commitment Therapy (ACT), somatic approaches, and attachment theory. She believes deeply in the innate wisdom and resilience of her clients and sees her role as a psychologist, as both a reverent witness and a compassionate guide—walking alongside clients through their emotional pain with empathy, respect, and belief in their capacity to heal.

Outside of her professional life, Evylin is a mother to four children. She enjoys card and board games, gardening (with all its challenges), cooking and baking for her family (even if the kids don’t always eat it), and savoring a great—ideally warm—cup of coffee.

Qualifications

Evylin holds a Master of Education degree in Counselling Psychology from the University of Alberta.  She is a Level 1 Trained Brainspotting practitioner and is trained in Cognitive Processing Therapy for trauma.  Evylin has also completed extensive training in perinatal mental health, violence towards women, and narcissistic abuse.

What do you love about being a psychologist?

I love being a psychologist because it allows me to connect deeply with people and engage in meaningful conversations every time I meet with a client. It's a privilege to explore the complexities of human behavior and to witness the creativity, strength, and resilience of the human spirit. I find great purpose in helping people uncover insights into their thoughts and actions, and in compassionately supporting them as they build the skills that improve their mental health and emotional well-being. For me, the most rewarding part of being a psychologist is seeing a client grow—watching their progress unfold over time is both humbling and inspiring.
