Clinical Supervision Workshop
-
This workshop is designed to be highly interactive, practical, and directly applicable to your supervision work. Across two days, participants will engage in a combination of brief didactic teaching, structured exercises, small-group discussion, and experiential practice. Realistic supervision scenarios and guided role-plays will be used to build skills in navigating common and complex supervisory situations. Time is intentionally built in for reflection, integration, and discussion, allowing participants to connect new learning to their own supervisory context. The small group format supports meaningful participation, individualized feedback, and a collaborative learning environment.

This workshop is designed for psychologists who are entering into a supervisory role, as well as those who are currently providing supervision and seeking to further develop their skills. It is particularly well-suited for clinicians who want to strengthen their approach to supervision, better understand their own supervisory processes, and identify areas for growth or refinement in their practice.
The workshop will also be relevant for those with a general interest in clinical supervision, including those considering taking on supervision in the future or looking to deepen their understanding of competency-based supervision models.
Content is aligned with supervisory expectations and professional standards set by the College of Alberta Psychologists, and will be most applicable to psychologists practicing within Alberta.
-
Participants will leave this workshop with increased confidence and clarity in their supervisory role, along with practical tools that can be immediately applied in their work. Through an experiential and competency-based approach, attendees will develop a more structured and intentional framework for supervision, enhance their ability to navigate complex supervisory dynamics, and strengthen their capacity for ethical decision-making. The workshop will also support deeper reflection on one’s own supervisory style and processes, helping to identify areas of strength as well as opportunities for growth.
Key topics will include structuring the supervisory relationship, managing risk and liability, addressing power imbalances within supervision, and promoting supervisee self-care and professional development, among others.
